Anime Character of the Week

Kyouichi Horaiji is the coolest character from an anime show we reviewed a while ago, Tokyo Majin. If you read the review (like you should have) you may have noticed that we didn't think it was very good. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't mention the only really cool character in the show!

Kyouichi Horaiji is a rebellious, delinquent at Magami High. He becomes best friends with the new, mysterious student after randomly attacking him :)

Kyouichi Horaiji is the boss of a gang and is always carrying around a wooden sword thing that probably has a name, but whatever, he's a highschool kid! he shouldn't be carrying the thing around in the first place!!

He can be very mean and sarcastic, but thats why we love him! He can fight and has magical powers! OH YEAH :D So anyways, i don't have a video of him to show you, and i don't really suggest watching the anime, but he's a cool character that must be mentioned ;)

Princess Mononoke

Lets start up again with one of the best anime films out there. If you guess our lord, Hayao Miyazaki as the creator of this film, then... YOU ARE CORRECT! The movie is a few decent years old but its still a master piece. Beautiful and moving the movie takes place in Japan where the guardians of the forest are at odds with the humans. Our main character, prince Ashitaka, has been cursed by a beast and now must find a way to stop the curse from killing him. So he travels to Iron Town were the people are fighting with the beasts of the nearby forest, which are led by a young girl, Princess Mononoke.

Great characters, fight scenes, just the right touch of humor, the plot is sweeping and the surprises along the way are a treat.

This is a must see movie, if you haven't already seen it, and you probably have for it is a very well known film.... AND FOR GOOD REASON! This movie is amazing. Thats all there is to say, just, Amazing.

Anime Character of the Week

Anime Character of the Week is, Scar, from Fullmetal Alchemist! Scar is a character that, thankfully, has been in all the versions of FMA. And his story and powers in the animes closely follow everything in the manga.

Scar is a surviver from the Ishbalan Rebellion. And because he saw so many of his loved ones die in the pointless battle he's decided to get his revenge and kill all the state alchemist's. Scar stands alone, on his own side, but that side tends to be the opposite of the main characters of FMA so for most of the time Scar is always fight our good guys. But thats ok, cause things happen........ Just read/watch FMA!

We don't know Scar's real name, but we do come to learn a lot more about him as time goes on. He's very strong, fast, and he has a tattoo on his right arm that gives him the ability to destroy things. This is one of the things that makes him so dangerous and hard to kill. Scar is always serious, ALWAYS. He's smart, has a goal, and nothing is going to get in his way if he wants you dead.

Ponyo

The most recent movie by our god Hayao Miyazaki is Ponyo. If you failed to see it in theaters then you must run out and get it on dvd for it is now available for your viewing pleasure. XD

This film was so weird, as most Miyazaki movies are, but it was also brilliant and beautiful. Creative and colorful, this movie was done in water colors which fits because the movie has to do with the sea and those that live there. The story is about a little boy, Sōsuke, who finds a little 'goldfish' in the sea and he names her Ponyo. But Ponyo isn't really a goldfish but one of the daughters of the sea. The story is an adventure and a love story that all must see.

Cute, funny, great characters, everybody will love this movie! :) (and if you don't then there is something wrong with you...)

Anime Character of the Week

This weeks, Anime Character of the Week is, Ty Lee, from Avatar the Last Airbender! :)

Ty Lee is extremely bubbly, thats the best way to describe her. She was born into a family of seven girls so she ran away to the circus, to be seen as separate from her sisters.

Even though Ty Lee cant bend any of the elements she is still as powerful and dangerous as any of the other characters. Because she's able to stop someone from using their bending by pushing certain pressure points. She's an excellent fighter and acrobat, which makes her a very hard opponent to beat.

Ty Lee doesn't show up in the anime show till season 2. And she isn't one of the 'good guys' in the show for she is a close friend of Azula. So for most of the anime she's helping Azula trying to catch Zuko and/or Aang. But we still love her!

Tokyo Majin

The reason why anime-consultant is here is to tell you about anime shows like Tokyo Majin. This is an anime that you can easily get hooked into watching, and i mean watching every episode! Which isn't too bad cause there's only two seasons and they go by fast. AND the show isn't that bad for someone who just wants a simple plot, fun characters, and a tone of ACTION! But other wise you could totally spend your time doing something more satisfying.

The show is based off of a Japanese video game, which you can see if you watch the anime. The plot is basic, a group of teens brought together to fight evil once they realize they have magical powers. There's one evil guy that sends out his minions to do his dirty work while we wait to see what he's really up to. The animation isn't great, (like at all) but its not that type of show. This is just one of those anime's that you watch when you don't want to think too much and you can just enjoy the action. Oh, and the show has some of the craziest hair we've ever seen in an anime before!

The first season of the anime isn't that good. Like you don't really know much about the characters, but you still think (some of them) are cool. If you think this show looks good then just watch the beginning and the end of the first season, you can skip the middle. But the second season is where they really get down to busyness. All those questions of 'how do they know how to fight?' 'who are they really?' those questions are answered in the second season. Which is so odd! they should have told us that stuff in the beginning. BTW if you do watch the anime to the end, at the last episode keep watching to the end of the credits cause there's a little more to watch.

Tokyo Majin isn't really worth it. It was way to soap opera like for us, but who knows, maybe you readers out there might love it. But other wise we're telling you to skip it. Tell us if you agree or not. Comment, send an email, and vote in our polls :)

Fullmetal Alechemist Brotherhood

They just couldn't give up on an anime for FMA! But at least this time they waited so there was enough of the manga for them to follow. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a second attempt at making the insanely awesome story of Ed and Al into an anime. This anime is still going (just like the manga) and recently the episodes are coming out dubbed.

Personally i'm going to say skip Brotherhood. Its light and cartoon looking, not as dark or creepy as the first anime and not as cool as the manga. If you like FMA's story and you really want to know what happens and how it will all end then just read the manga.

But at least they tried again, we have to give them credit for that :)

fullmetal alchemist conqueror of shamballa

After the first anime of FMA ended. (review of that bellow) They made a movie that picks up after the exciting cliff hanger! Conqueror of Shamballa!

I cant actually tell you what its about cause how do i know if you've seen the anime yet!?!?!?! But i can tell you that the movie was the perfect ending to the anime.

Creepy, funny, full of action, great characters and an interesting plot, Conqueror of Shamballa is a must see if you've watched the anime, other wise you wouldn't know what the hell was going on!

Though of course, because the anime wasn't following the manga by the end of its run, the movie doesn't either. If you're a lover of the manga then go into watching the movie with an acceptance that its a different story, just with the same characters and stuff :)

Conqueror of Shamballa is one of the best movies that caps off an anime series, check it out.

Just want to point out that, that trailer was freaking AWESOME! :D

Fullmetal Alchemist (anime)

Soon after everyone was in love with Fullmetal Alchemist an anime series was created. The series followed the manga up to volume 7 and then, because the books were coming out too slowly for the anime, it went off in its own direction.

The anime is pretty good, for an anime series. Lots of action, gory and really creepy at times, funny and full of cool characters. FMA is defiantly one of the better anime series out there. But if you want to compared to the manga the manga wins. The whole plot of the anime changes once it stops following the manga and instead of being a really interesting story it turns into your typical anime tale, which isn't always good. Plus the characters that they created weren't nearly as great as the ones in the manga.

But i will give credit to the anime for staying cool. The new adaption of FMA (which we will get into later) follows the manga but its too much of a cartoon. This first anime had a dark side that we all loved.

Akira

On any Top Anime Movie lists Akira is number one, and for a good reason because this movie has all the soul of anime in it. The graphics, though old, were great! The story was constantly going, great action, good characters. This movie is the classic anime that will last through the ages.

The basic plot is Tokyo, in the future, years after World War 111. Our main characters are a couple of teens in a street gang that is always fighting with other gangs. During one action packed night, when more stuff besides the gang fights is going on, one of the boys in our street gang almost runs over a little kid and gets injured. Then, without explanation, both the kid and the injured teen are taken away by the government. That is just the beginning of the film, it then continues to grow in action, suspense and into one hell of an adventure!

The film is actually based off of a manga but doesn't stick completely to the books story. Though many aren't complaining. There has also been rumors for a live action movie that would follow the manga instead of the anime, but we don't know if there's been any head way in that.

This is a must see anime for the fans who like action, gore, power and adventure. Akira is defiantly one of the best anime films for anime fanatics :)

BTW this trailer we found for it isn't that great but it still gives you a look at the film.

Fullmetal Alchemist (manga)

So if you know nothing about FMA then i'm sure you've heard of it cause its really popular right now, and for good reason! There are three-ish versions of FMA and today we shall tell you about the first one, the manga.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a brilliant manga series by Hiromu Arakawa. I say that the manga is brilliant because the art work isn't your typical style, (its better). If you are interested in becoming a cartoonist, or any kind of artist, then you need to check out FMA just for the art work. The story, though long and confusing like most mangas, is interesting and gripping. And though the characters at first seem like every other manga characters if you read a lot of the series you can actually tell have they've grown. Funny, gory, full of cool action and magic! The series is still on going at the moment, but a few comments by Hiromu Arakawa indicate that it soon could be coming to an end. WHICH WOULD BE SO SAD!

The story is about these two brothers in search of the philosophers stone in order to reclaim their original bodies. Which they lost, by the way, when they tried to bring their mother back from the dead with alchemy. You're thrown right into the story and over a while find out the past these boys have had.

Full of a great cast of characters, a never ending story that you're happy about, FMA is a must read manga! Seriously, if you've seen any of the anime then you should still read the manga cause its way better.

Persepolis

This French animated film was just as good as the books it was based off of and the true story that inspired the creation of all three.

If you read the graphic novels of Marjane Satrapi life then whether you love/hated/or didn't understand them, you should watch the animated movie. If you didn't read the books then you should still see the movie but keep in mind that although the film has everything important to the story in it they still had to edit it down a lot.

The movie combines both graphic novels into one film, creatively. I wouldn't say the books are better then the movie, or vice versa, but the movie is defiantly worth watching. It was subtly ingenious with its creativity. It got all the heart warming moments from the books in beautifully. And above all, it was stunning.

Persepolis 2: The Story of Return

This is the second book to Marjane Satrapi story. Persepolis 2: The Story of Return. I cant tell you much about it because that would give stuff away if you haven't read the first one. But i can tell you that it starts up right where the first one ended. And I can tell you that its just as good as the first book. The way these books were written, drawn, everything about them is perfect and amazing. You need to read these books. They're mind blowing, with her story and her art, you wont believe the tale you had just read when you finished them.

Plus, if you love these books so much Marjane Satrapi has written more that you can check out :)

Persepolis The Story Of A Childhood

So we're going to talk about the amazing graphic novels by Marjane Satrapi. And even though these aren't manga or an anime series there is an animated movie (and cause the graphic novels were just so amazing) we had to tell you about them :)

Persepolis, The Story Of A Childhood, is the first book about Marjane Satrapi's life. It tells her story through intense black and white drawings, imagination and the harsh truth of growing up in Iran after the Islamic revolution. If you want to know what it would really be like growing up in all that then this is the book to read. If you would like to learn a little more about Iran's history through an interesting view point this is the book to read. If you would like to read something that makes you think, 'omg i'm living a really good life, i'm so lucky to have what i have!' OR 'wow, what have i done with my life compared to that? i need to get out more.' Then this is the book to read!

I can't really tell you about the author Marjane Satrapi but if you read the books you'll find out all about her.

As a graphic novel Persepolis is defiantly one of the best out there. Its very well done, full of life, and the ending will have you craving for more...... Good thing there's a sequel! XD

Howl's Moving Castle

Another movie by our god Hayao Miyazaki! :D Howl's Moving Castle is actually based off the book, which we're told is very good and you should all read it. And whether its better then the movie or not, Hayao Miyazaki takes this story and creates one of the most beautiful movies. Everybody should see this movie if they already haven't. Its colorful, sweet, exciting, funny. The characters or perfect you just love them all! The plot is well done, and the whole thing just looks beautiful!

Its about this young woman, Sophie, who lives a dull life until a witch casts a spell on her that makes her an old lady. Sophie seeks out the mysterious, and extremely good looking, wizard Howl for he might be able to break the curse.

Comedy, magic, romance, mystery, war, political struggles, all that good stuff! Check it out :) if you don't agree, have strong opinions, so on and so forth, Comment! Send us an email! And vote in our polls :)

Darker Than Black season 2

So now we shall speak of the second season of Darker Than Black. Many DTB fans don't like to think of this second season of even being apart of the whole Darker Than Black world cause it just didn't live up to our expectations. Hei was pushed over to a side character, he was a drunk, the new girl was ok but she could get annoying. There wasn't enough action and what they did with the other wonderful characters from season 1 just wasn't cool. The plot in the first season was hard to define and this season was just worse. I'm sorry but Darker Than Black lost its coolness in the second season, and if you loved the first season then you might want to skip this one and just be happy not watching it crash and burn pathetically.

AH! they really messed up with what happens to the characters in this season! It makes me want to cry. But if they do ever make a third season they could kind of just pick up from the first and make it seem like the second season was a side story, but who knows if that will happen.

This trailer for season 2 best sums it up and if you think it looks cool you are welcome to watch the whole season cause this is what its like all the way through.

But this was the promo for the season, and this makes it look great! even thought it wasn't..... :(

If you have any opinions, don't agree with us, or would like to vent, comment! Send us an email! and vote in our polls :)

Darker Than Black

Darker than Black is, as you may have noticed, our banner, our poster, our lives! ok no, thats getting a little too obsessive.

Darker than Black is a great anime show because of the main characters, the action! and the just plain out awesomeness. :) But besides those it really is just another anime. but this review is going to be a little one sided, so whatever.

The plot is: Ten years ago an abnormal incident happens in Tokyo, and people with special abilities start poping up, they are known as Contractors. Our main character is Hei, a very special Contractor who is neither good nor evil. And, well, there's not much else i can tell you, you just have to watch it! Seriously, if you've never seen it before you can not call yourself an anime fanatic, period.

Darker Than Black is a spy thriller, undercover backstabbing, cop detective game, action packed, and above all AWESOME! Here's a trailer :)

We will have more on Darker than Black, because you may have noticed that there is another season.... which...... *sigh, we don't like very much. But as i said, we'll talk more about that later. For now, enjoy this first season!

Sailor Moon

ahhh, yes, Sailor Moon. The classic anime like Dragon Ball, Pokeman, Yu-gi-oh, and so on.

So the members of anime-consultant would say skip sailor moon, its not worth it, its just stupid and silly and lame and old. BUT because its just so classic and most of us grew up watching it every weekend, we are going to have to say watch at least one episode so that way you can say, 'ahhh, yes, Sailor Moon. In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!'

Back to busyness....... Sailor Moon is about a young girl who finds out that she is really a princess from the moon planet, (or something like that). She starts fighting the evil that is being sent down from the evil queen Beryl from another planet cause she wants the earths energy.

There's a hundred and something episodes, most you could totally skip. And then there's other seasons, and movies. The anime is based off the manga, which is just really weird! Oh, And there was a spin off live-action tv show in japan, that was soooo ridiculously bad its not funny, no don't check it out, seriously, just watch the anime show of sailor moon, out of them all its the best.

So to sum it all up, Sailor Moon, bad. Should you watch it if you haven't before, yes. Sailor Moon is one of those shows where you roll your eyes when you here just the smallest mention of it, But that doesn't mean we shouldn't all watch it!!! :D Mwahahaha!!!!!! YES YOU SHOULD ALL WATCH IT, SO THAT WAY I, THE EVIL QUEEN BERYL, CAN STEAL YOUR ENERGY AND RULE THE UNIVERSE!

Watch the opening here! and yes the whole show is like this. So.... Sailor Scouts Go!

Yu-gi-oh

Yu-gi-oh is a amine cartoon about a card game that in a way comes to life, and the main charterer "Yo-Gi-oh" who a prophecy says will be the most powerful player ever, has to fight countless enemies. but after about the 3rd season it gets old and repetitive all the fights go something like this "oh no you are about to kill me" then " I fight for love" and then he wins. don't get me wrong it is all good and fun even if not much changes.

Recess

Soooo this may not be an anime, really its a cartoon, but, we love it and think it deserves to be mentioned/we just want to write a review on it :)

Recess is a TV show that most kids watched every Saturday mornings, and its one that everybody loved. For a kids cartoon its one of the best, the plots for each episodes were new, the characters were consistent with their emotions which made them very realistic. The comedy, even though for kids, is still funny for young adults now.

The show is about six friends in fourth grade who aren't afraid to break the rules. We watch them play tricks on the teachers at school and go crazy during recess (which is where most of the show takes place). There's six seasons and through out all those you get to know a lot of the other characters in the show really well and not just the main six. There's also a few movies based off the show and those are all really good as well, they fit right in with the theme of the show.

You don't need to spend your time watching all six seasons of this show but if you're ever in the mood for a pick-me-up watch Recess! :D Its a really entertaining show! And if you have kids this show is better then most out there right now.

And because we are so nice and wonderful, (but also just want to make sure that if you haven't seen the show you get at least a taste) we have the first episode here for you to watch. Enjoy :)

Paprika

Paprika is one of those big time anime movies that a lot of teens now-a-days haven't actually seen. But you know, it wasn't a bad movie, at all, really. Compared to some of the other anime movies we've reviewed on this blog its not brilliant, but it definitely wasn't bad.

The movie is about a machine that can record someones dreams so when they wake up they can watch their dreams like a movie. The machine is stolen and whoever has it is getting into peoples heads without them even wearing the machine or being asleep.

The movie was sometimes hard to follow, but compared to other animes it was pretty explanatory. Colorful, imaginative/ dreams coming to life, Paprika is a good movie for anime fans to see. The plot was nicely done and we got no complaints to say about the characters. For some reason Paprika was rated R for violence and sexual content, but we here at anime-consultant, don't see why. Its was pretty low-key for an anime in those ways. Besides that it was top-notch for any film that delves in dreams.

check out the trailer below :)

Ergo Proxy

Ergo Proxy is one of my personal favorites. Its hard to understand at first.... well actually through the whole thing. You start every episode going, 'Whats going on? Did i skip an episode?' But the more you watch the more you understand. The whole show just feels very different then your typical anime, its darkly lit and quiet.

The show takes place in the future in a domed city. Where AutoReivs, (robots) are companions for people. The anime starts off with one of our main characters, Re-al, investigating on infected AutoReivs.

One of the things that makes this anime so great is the character of Re-al. She is a strong female character, which you generally don't see in these kinds of shows, and i mean strong, freaking GREAT! Every female anime freak should check this show out for this character. And then every male anime freak should check this anime out aswell :)

The other main character is Vincent Law, an immigrant with a mysterious past. The whole thing centers around the Proxy. What is it? What is it doing? Why do people want to cover it up? and so on.

I think everybody should give this anime a chance. Its something very different. The plot is good. The characters are great. And the whole thing is just... odd.

You should all watch it!!!!! and here's a trailer, its not a real trailer for the show but its cool enough :)

Kiki's Delivery Service

This anime movie has been seen by almost everybody when they were little. If not you then you were very deprived... But anyways, Kiki's Delivery Service is a beautiful, cute, and yes, magical movie.

Its about this young witch, Kike, who has to leave home for a year and find her place in the world. The characters are extremely likable, the story is nice, the whole thing is sweet and colorful. It doesn't matter what age you are you'll like this movie if you don't already.

Now that you've read this review you're going, 'oh, that sounds great. I should check it out, i wonder who made it?' WELL!!!! Who else could make such a great move besides Hayao Miyazaki! Lord of amazing anime!

Check out this movie, you'll love it.

Paranoia Agent

Paranoia Agent is based on the idea of, if your paranoia came to life. It was a pretty good anime, realistic, in a way...

The whole time you're watching it you're going, What the hell is going on!?! Who's this? Whats that? Is this real? Is this a dream? NO! ITS PARANOIA!!!!!

I suggest seeing this anime, its one of those quiet shows that are good but don't always reach the height they could. Its actually pretty short for an anime, only 13 episodes long. So you know, if its not your cup of tea you didn't waist that much time. But i still think people should check it out, its one that will stick in you're head for a long time after. AND if you do watch it don't skip episodes....I know you all do from time to time. But this is one of those animes where the whole thing, as a whole, is beauty.

Naruto (shippuden)

Now the last post in our Naruto shpeel. Naruto Shippuden! If you don't already know all about this anime then your asking yourself two things, one: what is shippuden, and two: how do you say it?

Well we over here at anime-consultant have no idea how to pronounce shippuden, (but i'm sure you could look it up.) But we can tell you what Naruto Shippuden is about!!!

Naruto Shippuden is an anime they starting making after a decent amount of manga chapters had passed so that way they could make Naruto into an anime without running out of content, like the first anime did. Naruto Shippuden follows the manga exactly, and because the manga is still going so is this anime. There are three, or so, animated movies that follow this second anime of crazy young ninjas.

Naruto Shippuden, the first anime of Naruto, and the manga are all the same really. If you don't like one then you probably wont care much about one of the others. (though the manga is the best...)

Well that caps our Naruto review! If you have a question, don't agree with anything we said, or have more information, comment!! :)

Naruto (the anime)

Because Naruto became so popular they made an anime based on it. But because the manga is still going the anime eventually caught up and couldn't wait for the manga to finish. The show has a thousand episodes but only the first half follow the manga, then they go off in their own direction. Basically everything I said about the plot/characters/how much you'll like it, for the manga, applies to the anime.

There are about (at the moment) six, animated, Naruto movies, only three of them are apart of the first anime.

So if you go to one of your anime web sites you now know that the one that just says 'Naruto' means, anime based off the manga....till the second half when they gave up on patience.

Naruto (the manga)

The franchise of Naruto started from something small but is now one of the biggest anime/mangas out there. Even if you've never looked into the world of Naruto you've seen it lying around. Its every where! Because...(drumroll)....its so addicting!!!!

The basic plot of Naruto is about a boy, named Naruto, who wants to become Hokage of his village, leader of ninjas. But there's something different about Naruto (isn't there always) he has the nine-tailed beast trapped inside him. The story follows Naruto and his friends as they train to become ninjas. But of course their childhoods cant be so easy, so even though they're very young, they're thrown into the ugly, bloody world as they try and protect the ones they love and fight for peace...............If you think that last line sounded really lame then maybe you shouldn't watch Naruto.

The manga is the main source of Naruto, its still going and going and going! There are so many chapters of these young ninjas fighting one villain after the other. Most of the time the fight ends with Naruto forcing the bad guys to realize that they can love and have friends, all that lovely stuff.

Naruto isn't great towards woman, even though most of them are ninjas with awesome powers, they're seen as weak and sex symbols. The characters are pretty typical for manga and anime, but there is a lot of them!!!! And the plot doesn't seem to have an end in sight! but if you're a big fan thats ok :)

Naruto is very addicting to read/watch...........just a warning if you're not already hooked. If you only want to watch anime/read manga thats got real art and deep plots/characters then Naruto is something you could skip. But for everyone else who would like to see what it is, or just want to loss themselves in a never ending story, i suggest reading the manga over watching the anime, its much better.

Oh, right! you're all wondering what anime I'm talking about, because when you go to your anime sites there's more then one thing that says Naruto...

Well! thats coming in another post. Believe it!

The Cat Returns

Ah, yes, The Cat Returns is a kid movie, BUT, it was created by our god, Hayao Miyazaki. So even though you think you've past those PG movies you might want to give this one a second chance.

Its about a girl who saves a cat from getting run over by a car. But turns out this is the prince of cats. To repay the girl for saving the princes life the king cat decides she should marry the prince cat. But of course, our main female, human, character doesn't want to marry a cat.

The movie has that magic about it that only a Miyazaki movie seems to have. Its funny and creative, you should all see it, unless you already saw it when you were a child. But you know, family movies do mean for the whole family :)

Blood+

So you may remember that we did a review on Blood: The Last Vampire. And we said that it was really good and you should see it, not the live-action movie but the original anime movie. And you should also remember that we said they made a spin off tv show/manga series. Well that is what we shall talk about now!

Blood+ is a spin off of the anime movie Blood: The Last Vampire, and its rare that a spin off is better then the original so none of you should be surprised when i say don't watch Blood+.

Its about a girl that has a past she cant remember until a man comes and wakes her and reminds her of her job to kill monsters, or something like that. Its kind of hard to explain because it was basted off the character in the movie but then it goes off in its own crazy direction. The cool thing about the movie was the main character but in this anime she just becomes like every female cry baby that you see in so many shows. The fight scenes weren't great, except for the one in the very beginning, but thats it. There were a lot of characters that just didn't make sense, the graphics wasn't anything we haven't seen before, And the plot went off in a very typical anime direction.

Skip Blood+ but defiantly see the movie! not the live-action one but the animated one :)

and this trailer, by the way, makes it look much cooler then it is. Just so you know.

Grave of the Fireflies

Well i guess its time we should talk about one of the most depressing and amazing movies ever made, and we're not just talking about anime but movies all around! Grave of the Fireflies stuns everybody who sees it, (and everybody should). If you want to see a movie that was made to perfection this one is it. The graphics, excellent! The characters, perfect! The story line, insanely accurate.

The story is about this brother and sister in Japan during the end of World War 2. The sibling are orphaned and the movie is about them struggling to survive.

This movie is Beautiful, and a must see. But sometimes, beauty isn't cheerful.

Spirited Away

Ladies and Gentlemen! If you have never seen Spirited Away then you have probably heard of it. Its an academy award winning animated movie by (the god to all anime lovers) Hayao Miyazaki. This is one of those movies you should feel ashamed of not seeing if you haven't just because it is soooo good in its own way.

Its about a self-centered young girl on her way to her new home. But before she gets there she's brought into the spirit world where she must work harder then ever to free her parents and get back home.

The characters are so realistic, even though half of them aren't human. The whole film is creative and somewhat disturbing though it is only PG. Colorful and fun this is a movie that makes you think and love. And reminds us why we love anime! Or, introduces us to the love of anime :)

Tactics

I'd have to say skip Tactics. Maybe the manga was more gripping but the anime was dull. It wasn't really bad (it was kind creepy in some parts) but it wasn't good either. Basically the story is about a young man who can see and speak to demons. The young man finds and sets the Demon Eater free and becomes his master. The two of them become friends, though I thought sometimes it seemed a little closer then friendship, but thats just me. But then the Demon Eaters memories of his past start to come back and everything they love could come crashing down.

But really you could skip this one. It just wasn't anything special.
